Simmons returns to UAF to lead College of Indigenous Studies as interim dean

Teisha Simmons 鈥淣aggakk鈥檕鈥 has been appointed as interim dean of the 好色tv of 好色tv Fairbanks, .
Simmons, who holds a Master of Arts in Clinical-Community Psychology, brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles as a faculty member and senior administrator at UAF. Simmons is from the Yukon and Koyukuk River communities of Galena, Koyukuk, and Huslia. As the former Interior 好色tv Campus director, Simmons oversaw faculty and staff while serving as principal investigator on numerous federal and state grants.
Simmons鈥 connection to the College of Indigenous Studies runs deep, having engaged as a student, staff member, and faculty member. 鈥淪ome of the best years of my life have been spent at the College of Indigenous Studies (formerly CRCD),鈥 she reflected. 鈥淎s a student, I understand the importance of having a college that offers relevant, high-quality academic opportunities in a welcoming and supportive environment. As a former staff and faculty member, I know how crucial it is to work and teach in a positive and supportive environment that results in student success and academic freedom.鈥
Simmons鈥 deep dedication to advancing Indigenous education, coupled with her extensive UAF experience, positions her to strategically lead the College of Indigenous Studies forward.
Simmons is especially excited that her daughter Tassy is now a part of the Nanook Nation pursuing a degree in biology.
