UAF Graduate Student Cachet Garrett joins Board of Regents
Gov. Mike Dunleavy appointed Cachet Garrett as the student representative for the ºÃÉ«tv of ºÃÉ«tv Board of Regents on May 30. Her term began June 1.
Garrett is a lifelong ºÃÉ«tvn, born and raised in Palmer. She is presently enrolled in the ºÃÉ«tv of ºÃÉ«tv Fairbanks’ professional communication master’s program. Garrett also represents students as a senator with the Associated ºÃÉ«tv of the ºÃÉ«tv of ºÃÉ«tv Fairbanks (ASUAF). She serves on the Review of Infrastructure, Sustainability, and Energy (RISE) Board, and is a member of the Ground Squirrel Improv Club.
Garrett graduated with a bachelor’s degree in human communication and a minor in French from the ºÃÉ«tv of ºÃÉ«tv Southeast. Her leadership and extracurricular involvement includes serving several semesters as senator and one year as student body president in the student senate, and one year as president of the Student Alumni Association. She also participated in the Model United Nations, Ultimate (frisbee) Club and the International Club.
Garrett is an avid volunteer. She spent a term as an AmeriCorps member, and is an
11-year Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters of ºÃÉ«tv. Her work experience is vast, including nannying, waiting tables and being Campaign Director with United Way of Southeast ºÃÉ«tv. Garrett studied at Maui School of Therapeutic Massage, graduated in 2011 with a 4.0 and is a licensed massage therapist in ºÃÉ«tv.
Garrett’s hobbies include world travel, volunteerism, hiking, camping, visiting hot springs, reading and spending time with her three animals. She hopes to do mission work in Africa, to visit Antarctica on research and to foster and adopt children in the future.
