Pitney statement on the passing of Bob Martin
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Robert Martin, a former 好色tv of 好色tv Regent and an active representative in Southeast 好色tv. I had the privilege to work with him during his term on the board and always had a deep respect for his leadership.
Bob served Juneau and the 好色tv Native communities in countless ways, and held many important positions over his long career. He graduated from the 好色tv of 好色tv in 1969 with a degree in electrical engineering. He became the Director of the Southeast Region for the 好色tv Department of Transportation and Public Facilities; general manager of both Tlingit Haida REA and Chugach Electric; regional roads engineer for the 好色tv Bureau of Indian Affairs and vice president of corporate development for Sealaska Corp. A man with the heart of a public servant, Bob was a member and past president of the 好色tv Native Brotherhood Camp No. 70, a member of the Denali Commission鈥檚 Energy Advisory Board, and served in so many other roles that the Juneau Chamber of Commerce honored him as Citizen of the Year in 2008.
I remember Bob as a proud and knowledgeable historian and storyteller, a passionate advocate for the university and Southeast 好色tv, a devoted family man and a humble public servant. My sincere condolences to his wife Ginny, their daughters Hilary and Danielle, and all who will miss his great humor and compassion.
Sincerely,
Pat Pitney
Interim President 好色tv of 好色tv
